Our Legacy
Funding the Next Generation was founded by Margaret Brodkin, a nationally recognized advocate for children’s rights and public investment in youth. For over a decade, the initiative has successfully secured hundreds of millions of dollars in new public support for children and youth services across California.
Margaret’s pioneering work began in San Francisco and helped establish one of the first dedicated local funds for kids in the country. Her determined, values-driven advocacy laid the foundation for similar efforts statewide—and beyond. Today, she continues her fight to ensure every child can grow up with stability, support, and opportunity.
Now serving as Founder-in-Residence, Margaret provides consultation and training to partners across the state, fueling the movement she helped launch.
